About Ruben Colin

Hi, I’m Ruben Colin! I am a certified dog trainer who specializes in obedience, behavior modification, agility, and much more. I offer group and private training sessions for dogs of all ages and sizes to help foster strong relationships between owners and their furry friends.

I grew up in Haiti, where my father used to train dogs, so my love for dogs began at an early age. When I traveled to Florida, I worked under another trainer for two years. He partnered with the Everglades Angel Dog Rescue, where I started training dogs. 

My Training Techniques

The trainer I first worked under convinced me that food was not effective in training. He said the focus should be on communicating with the dog with nothing but a leash or a toy. 

After two years of using his system, I discovered that 95% of Dog trainers only use one system. To be different, I needed to be a balanced trainer — not only using one way of communicating with billions of dogs with different personalities and breeds. I didn’t think using food would work for every dog, so I worked with the Humane Society Animal Rescue Shelter team to test my theory of communicating with dogs using food. And it worked! 

I spent another four years working with many pet owners referred to me by other people needing help. I joined several dog clubs in Florida and started working as a helper for dogs going to the police department and competing in IGP or PSA. I also compete with my own dog.
